Question by lilmiss_obsessed: Does this sound like a good fitness plan?
I’m trying to get into better shape this summer. Does this sound good?

Alternate in the mornings between 10 mins on the exercise steppers, and 10 mins on jumping rope (one morning I’ll do one, the next morning I’ll do the other)

10 crunches every morning

Yoga once a week

Ride my bike to and from work

Will this help me lose weight?

Yes it can as long as you eat right.

You just have to be physically healthy doing daily workouts. You need to be active for at least 30 mins a day 5 days a week doing certain activities. Just walking is a great work out.

It will help, but you really should be doing at least 30 minutes of exercise per day.

I don’t know about the rest, but depending on how far you live from your work, I think that riding your is going to be great for cardio. Also I have heard that interval training works best for toning up and losing weight. One example of what I’m talking about is running full out for 1 minute and walking for 2-3 minutes, for 20-30 minutes. If running is not an option for you find another cardio workout that allows you to incorporate interval work. Swimming is good for this too and no/low impact. As for the crunches, you might want to add some variety to it and not just do one kind, because then you will plateau and stop getting results after a while. Go to Amazon and check out some of the fitness DVDs they have and buy 2 or 3 so you have some variety with your crunches so you get to work your whole core. One that I like was Tamille Webb I Want That Body. It has 3 workouts on it and the abs section is killer and the instructor on the DVD is not so obnoxiously perky that you want to throw something at your TV.

P.S. Make sure you talk to your doctor if you have any health issues that could get complicated by the exercises you do.
